Violet Evergarden (Part 2)

 





Hey guys, In this post I will be talking about episodes 4 to 8 and chapters 3 and 4 from the anime and the light novel of Violet Evergarden respectively.

As I mentioned in the previous post that the novel and it's adaptation differ in the sequence of events, I will briefly talk about the events mentioned in the previous post (from the novel) which occur in the anime between episodes 4 to 8.

The anime shows the interaction between the playwright Oscar and the Auto memories doll Violet Evergarden. The anime explains the trauma that Oscar had faced with a lot of detail. It also showed the strong bond he had with his wife and his daughter and also describes a few events between them. One of the events that the anime missed which was crucial in my opinion is when Violet dresses up like his daughter which sends Oscar into an emotional rollercoaster.


The next set of events are when Violet Evergarden was hired for transliteration in Shaher's observatory in the city of Eustitia. She meets Leon over there. The anime fails to show how much Leon started liking Violet. The character development of Leon from a misogynistic and a woman hating person to someone who starts respecting women after meeting Violet was something that the anime fails to show.


In between the events Violet remembers her time in the military. The action sequences in the novel fail to provide detail on these fight sequences and are explained in brief whereas the anime spends a great amount of time to visualize these shots with beautiful visual effects.

Overlord- Openings, Endings and Intermediality

In this fourth blog, I shall be focusing on what makes anime, anime! Many of them know them by the name of OPs and EDs or Openings and Endings. These are some of the elements which other media don't have, and as an anime enthusiast, I am proud and happy to talk about these that are made with special care and consideration and are the major constituents of beauty in this art form. Violet Evergarden (Part 1)

  Hey guys, this week I will be covering the anime adaptation of the light novel called Violet Evergarden. The movie is also called Violet Evergarden. It is a story about an ex-female soldier who takes up the job of an Auto Memory Doll at a Writer's agency The anime has 13 episodes in total whereas the light novel contains 6 chapters. For this post I will be covering 4 episodes from the anime and 2 chapters of the light novel. If we judge the adaptation based in fidelity from the light novel, then the adaptation is not so loyal to the novel. The anime shows the life of Violet Evergarden  in the order of succession. This shows the rise of Violet into a well reputed Auto Memory Doll. Whereas the novel starts in the middle, go back to the beginning and then go to the end. This sets a mystery towards the protagonist as her story is not completely clear until one point. This puts up an anachrony.
